OUR MISSION
SCHIP is an acronym for Shelburne Charlotte Hinesburg Interfaith Projects, Inc. It was formed in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) organization of local faith communities. We work together to raise funds for grants to improve the lives of our neighbors and to strengthen our communities. The funds are generated by the sale of items donated to SCHIP's Treasure Resale Shop. From store proceeds, over $750,000 in grants have been made to support food shelves and emergency aid, community projects, education, health and welfare needs.
WHO WE ARE:
The SCHIP Board of Directors includes two members from each of the following faith communities:
Many people have wondered who we help and what kind of help we provide. We give monetary grants. The association receiving the grant must be another nonprofit and they must somehow help to improve the lives of those living in our communities of Shelburne, Charlotte, and Hinesburg. We award grants twice a year. The long list below is a master list of most of those who have received money from SCHIP since its opening. There are over 100 and some have received awards several times, though never more than once in a calendar year.
